Worship in Adversity

I woke up with a new hope. Fully decided to follow the following Scriptures today:

Matthew 6:33 but seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus Concerning you.

Lauren’s appointment was done and we had a free hour in between before children’s haircuts. We asked God what He wanted us to do for that hour and that he will give us an opporunity to witness. The Lord reminded me of our commitment to serve the community of Caldwell after the kids sang at the Council meeting. So off I went to the Mayor’s office, a step of faith. Mayor Dassing suggested that the Seniors at the Community Center would love to hear the children sing. I excitedly told the children of this opportunity perfect for that solid hour! Unpacked the guitar from the back of car, sang “He knows my name” and of course “I have been blessed” and recited Psalm 127 and 100. God is good!

The thorn in the flesh came back in a form of a text. I have quickly forgotten last night’s devotions and this morning’s Scriptures. So what did I do? I called close friends (instead of calling my Heavenly Father in prayer), complained, cried, and cried some more. Kids listening, watching, and learning in the van: the good and the bad.

But God is ever merciful. He understands that I am still learning and the kids are learning through me. So, as we reached our driveway, I told the kids that we are going to pray and worship the Lord in the midst of a trial. And that’s exactly what we did as a family!

Love and peace filled my home that afternoon in the middle of a storm. All because of God’s grace and mercy sufficient for the day. And the days to come.
